Australian Sandalwood Hydrosol

Description Let’s start this off right – I am IN LOVE with this hydrosol! Years ago we received a so-called Sandalwood hydrosol from India, and it was dreadful stuff.. overly sweet, and not smelling at all like my beloved Santalum album. We did not make it available to you, because I would never have put my label on it. So, it was a bit of a gamble ordering this unknown from my favorite Australian supplier. This particular Sandalwood Hydrosol is absolutely lovely! It is a lighter, softer version of the sandalwood oils that I have loved since I first discovered them perhaps 30 years ago. I am not certain about the therapeutic uses of this Sandalwood water. I would guess that it would share all the emotional uses of the essential oil from the same still – calming, grounding, and possibly an aphrodisiac. Australian Sandalwood essential oil has been tested and found effective against both strep and staph, as well a wide range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. I would try gargling with this Sandalwood water when a sore throat strikes (no, it doesn’t taste nearly as good as it smells!) I would also use it to clean cuts, scrapes and minor wounds. For skincare (said to be an effective acne treatment.) Blending… first, a secret: the way we test the aroma of any hydrosol is to spray it on the back of our hands. When we first tested this new arrival, we all loved it, and proceeded to play with it. So far I can say with no doubt at all it blends beautifully with Rose and Neroli hydrosols…perhaps an anti anxiety spritzer? Mostly Sandalwood with perhaps 20% Neroli (because the Neroli wants to dominate, but we are striving for balance.) Next I want to try adding a bit of this hydrosol to the water in my cool mist diffuser and see if it scents the room. So many things to try, so little time.
